Seeing the strengths

Home Neurodiversity Seeing the strengths

Every person has their own unique profile.

Strengths, skills, motivation, interest and resilience can mean success in a given employment setting.

Often people who are neurodiverse may have peaks of strengths in one area. If this strength is harnessed it can offer employers real talent opportunities. It can be the determination and resilience that makes the person with a neurodiverse profile a key and important employee.

However, the person’s profile may be ‘patchy’ with some areas of great strength and other areas requiring some support and adjustments made.

Employers have described people who work with them who have a range of neurodiverse skills as:

  • Accurate and careful in tasks undertaken
  • Having creative ideas
  • Problem solvers
  • One who perseveres
  • Hard working
  • Having high levels of concentration
  • Determined
  • Reliable
  • Conscientious
  • Technically able
  • Having detailed factual knowledge
  • Systematic
  • Organised
  • Meticulous
  • Empathic
  • Honest
  • Logical
  • Sincere
